Recent interest rate increases have been a boon for those who keep their money in a savings account. It was difficult to find a bank that paid interest rates higher than 1% just a few short years ago. Some banks are now offering rates as high as 4%.

Many Americans fail to capitalize on this opportunity, and are missing out on earning hundreds, if they don't thousands of dollars annually in interest.
