BOLD by Wyndham Hits the Accelerator, Signs Nearly 20 Hotels in Just Over Six Months

PARSIPPANY (N.J.), February 22, 2023 /PRNewswire/ Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is the largest hotel franchising firm in the world, with over 9,100 hotels across 95 countries. Today, Wyndham announced the rapid expansion and success of its BOLDSM by Wyndham program. According to data from the National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators and Developers, Black hotel workers account for nearly 20% of the total workforce, but less than 2% of hotel owners are Black. BOLD by Wyndham stands for Black Owners and Lodging Developers. It was created to address the unique challenges Black entrepreneurs face through the Wyndham's scale, relationships, and resources. Twin Brothers Enter Extended Stay with Wyndham. Among the hotels in the BOLD brand by Wyndham pipeline are 10 that are associated with Wyndham’s ECHO Suites Extended Stay By Wyndham brand. This brand was created specifically to assist hotel developers tapping into the growing extended-stay segment. The deal was made possible by twin brothers Dubi Ajukwu and Chuchu Ajukwu who are Co-Managing Partners at VANA Partners. They are also Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School graduates. Although the brothers worked briefly as hotel waiters during their youth to support their parents' small hotel in Nigeria, they never intended to invest in hospitality. Dubi Ajukwu stated that "Chuchu, and I, are very well-versed within the worlds residential and commercial real property. For years, our vision was for a company that leveraged our institutional experience in these sectors." This vision is still valid, but it has evolved to include extended stay and hospitality. Wyndham's willingness and flexibility to work with the brothers to develop and identify hotels in markets most important to them was a key factor in their selection of Wyndham.
