How Alabama ranks among lake markets nationwide
Alabama is ranks 11th out of 13 states which currently have more than $1 billion in lake home and lot listings for sale.
While more lake real estate properties are available this winter versus winter 2021, according to Lake Home Realty's Winter 2022-2023 Lake Real Estate Market Report, continued limited inventory for sale remains the main inhibitor on transactions for lake real estate. The state comes in with $1.23 billion in the total lake market accounting for 3,301 listings, which is also a 9% decrease from fall 2022. The lake area also comes in at number one in the state for the lake with the largest market topping $234 million including 547 total listings. Less than 200 homes are priced lower, 392 were priced higher between $500,00 and $1 million, and 169 homes made it into the million dollar club. Of listings with more than 10 acres, Wheeler Lake has the most expensive land per acre while Lay Lake has the most affordable land per acres.
