Principal Real Estate Income Fund : Continues Share Repurchase Program

PRINCIPAL REAL ESTATE IMPROVEMENT FUND CONTINUES SHARE RETAKE PROGRAM DENVER – December 19, 2022 - Today, the Board of Trustees (the “Board”) of Principal Real Estate Income Fund (the “Fund”) announced that it had approved a renewal of its share repurchase program. The share repurchase program allows the Fund to purchase approximately 3.5% of its common shares from January 21, 2023 on the open market until January 21, 20,24. The Board authorized ALPS Advisors, Inc. ("the Advisor") to purchase the Fund's common stock at such times and amounts that the Advisor believes will increase shareholder value as part of its evaluation of shareholder value options. The Advisor and the Board continue to evaluate options for increasing shareholder value and possibly reducing the discount between the Fund's market price and its net asset value per share ("NAV") The Advisor and the Board believe that the share-repurchase program can help achieve these goals. It allows the Fund to purchase its shares on the open market at a discount of NAV. This will increase the NAV and benefit existing shareholders. Additionally, it could provide liquidity for the trading of fund shares. The Board will be monitoring the program and will continue to explore strategic options to increase shareholder value over the long-term. Under the guidance of the Advisor, the Fund's repurchase plan will be executed on a discretionary basis. The Fund cannot guarantee that it will purchase shares at a specific discount level or an exact amount, nor that the Fund's share price will rise as a result.
