Putin Signs Decree To Draft 130K Young Men In Fall Conscription

Russia has called up its draftees for a call-up in the fall

More than 130,000 young men to serve in the compulsory military service

According to a Friday decree by President Putin, the new batch of conscripts will be recruited for a year between Oct.1 and Dec.31. The Kremlin has announced that men aged 18-27 years old will be recruited from Oct.1 to Dec.31 for a period of one year. However, this latest conscription campaign will not include sending this new batch into Ukraine.

In a briefing the Deputy Head of the Military's Mobilization Department, Rear Admiral Vladimir Tsimlyansky sought to reassure,

There are no plans to take additional mobilization actions.

The Defense Ministry previously stated that they were taking long-term measures to achieve Putin's goal to increase the combat strength of the National Armed Forces from 1,15 million to 1,5 million.

This new drive is a result of the last spring draft, which recruited 147,00 soldiers.

According to Russian state-run news agency TASS, the so-called Constitutional Law on Admission to the Russian Federation regulates conscription for military service within what Moscow calls Russia's "new regions".

The law states that the conscription round for autumn 2023 will be conducted according to the law

Putin said on Saturday that Russia is celebrating the one-year anniversary of these territories being declared "legally" part of Russian Federation.
