Real Estate Association Addresses Racial Equity Issues At Black History Month-Timed Conference

The report's forward stated that 2004 was the year with the highest Black homeownership rate (just under 50%)." These issues will be addressed at the upcoming conference in San Diego, February 22-26. It will include career-building sessions such as 'Recruitment for Black Professionals: How To Become an Appraiser'. This session will help to reduce bias in this field. There are significant inequalities in home appraisals for Black homeowners. This is based on both the racial profile and the neighborhood, even in wealthy areas. Another topic to be addressed at the event is community action. These topics can be covered by your statehouse in high school and college classes. However, the Fair Housing Act-preceding professional real estate associations want to cover them at their conference this month. The lessons could be beneficial to any real estate firm that wants to serve new markets or expand their existing ones.
