The Chip Titan Whose Life’s Work Is at the Center of a Tech Cold War
At 92, Morris Chang, the founder of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, is no longer content to stay in the shadows.

Morris Chang, who works in a wood paneled office with sweeping views of Taipei's jungle-covered mountains and the capital city itself, recently pulled out a book that was stamped with patterns in technicolor.
The book was called "Introduction to VLSI Systems", a textbook for graduate students that describes the complexities of computer chip design. Mr. Chang, aged 92, held the book up in reverence.
