NEW YORK - December 19, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- This week, Matthew D. Upchurch (CEO and Chairman of the leading global luxury travel network Virtuoso(r)), was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Larry Pimentel, a longtime friend and Four Seasons Yachts CEO, had the honor of introducing Upchurch at the ceremony. He also shared the sentiments of Virtuoso partners, members and other professionals. Pimentel said, "Matthew has a passion for innovation, is a great storyteller and luxury leader. Because he listens, acts and cares deeply, he is the strongest advocate for the travel advisor. Virtuoso partners, members and staff all remembered Upchurch for his unwavering leadership and passion. His entire life has been dedicated towards making the profession of travel advisors more valued, respected, satisfying, and comparable to other luxury services. Upchurch has been on both the supplier and agency sides of the equation. His balanced perspective focuses on creating a positive circle that makes each side succeed. Even more poignant was the tribute to Jesse Upchurch, Upchurch's father and industry pioneer, which made the evening even more special. He received the same award in 2008. This honor bestowed by Travel Weekly on Matthew Upchurch is the first time that two generations of the same family has been honored in this manner. Upchurch wasn't the only Virtuoso to be honored at the event. Anne Morgan Scully was a long-standing Virtuoso advisor who is a prominent presence in the network. She was also awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award. Upchurch gave a warm introduction and spoke about Scully's contributions to the industry as well as her dedication to mentoring new advisors.
